Rosa Abreu | Photography of the author and Fine Art

My practice as a photographer and visual artist stems from a singular way of perceiving the world. High myopia, far from being a limitation, has transformed my vision and serves as the genesis of my entire body of work.

Through fine art photography and contemporary experimentation, I investigate how perception shapes our relationship with landscape, everyday objects, the body, and the passage of time. I work with analog photographic materials—negatives and transparencies—combined with digital processes to create signed, collectible works that do not seek to faithfully reproduce reality, but rather to explore alternative ways of inhabiting it.

Each series emerges from a unified experiential core, constituting a progressive step within an ongoing inquiry into perception. Landscape, everyday objects, the body, and matter do not appear as independent themes, but rather as distinct territories through which I continue to develop a singular investigation into the construction of the image.

From Impossible Vessels to Retinographies, Being Landscape, Being Object, and Being Segment, my work traces a trajectory in which photography becomes a medium for inhabiting the world through vision. Each project expands this inquiry, positioning the image as the nexus where perception, experience, and memory converge.
