When Vision Becomes Image
Retinographies stems from the need to give visual form to a life experience marked by high myopia. Drawing upon diagnostics, medical terminology, and ophthalmological tests that have accompanied me since adolescence, I construct a photographic language that transforms that clinical journey into an image.
The series does not aim to document a pathology, but rather to translate that visual experience into a form of representation. In contrast to the notion of a single, sharp, or idealized image, these photographs arise from my own way of perceiving the world. They do not seek to correct vision, but to make visible a visual experience that rarely finds representation in photography.
Retinographies marks the moment when this experience ceases to be the silent origin of my work and becomes the starting point for subsequent series.
