The Gesture of Drawing Closer
Being Segments extends the journey initiated in the previous series through a gesture that forms part of my visual experience. Drawing closer ceases to be a response to myopia and becomes my way of seeing and relating to the world.
The images arise from this proximity. When the whole is no longer accessible, drawing closer makes it possible to recognize what distance prevented from being seen. What at first glance appears to be a fragment retains the presence of the whole and reveals a distinct way of recognizing nature.
This series does not aim to isolate detail, but to invite the spectator to experience a different way of approaching what they observe. In this everyday gesture, I find a way to accept my own nature and understand that drawing closer is not a limitation, but the very way in which I inhabit the world.
